Serena Williams’s husband Alexis Ohanian is a successful entrepreneur, co-founder of the giant social media, Reddit, and venture capitalist. But the job he loves the most? Being a proud ‘Papa Bear.’ Ohanian and Williams were blessed with two daughters, Seven-year-old Olympia and one-year-old Adira, and both of them have him wrapped around their pinky fingers.! Naturally, the father is a very protective girl dad.

Interestingly, the Reddit co-founder also has a podcast called, “Business Dad,” where he chats with men across sports, business, and tech and asks them their secret to balancing a successful career and being a good dad.

In 2020, the ‘Business Dad’ sat down with television personality Joel Martinez aka The Kid Mero, to discuss the parts and parcel of being a father.

Sharing his protective nature, Ohanian said, “I was taking, I was taking Olympia for a walk in the stroller, had the nanny there too. I was rolling deep. And this, this lady comes up and I guess this is a thing that’s normal for people to want to come up and talk to your kid and touch your kid. But the first time it happened to me, you’re like, I’m like, get your hands off my baby. Get her off my baby. Because it just, everything about it felt so wrong, like such a violation of this.”

Speaking further, he also revealed how his priorities have changed after having a kid. Ohanian said, “I just felt like everything I had done, as proud as I was in my career to that point, almost didn’t really matter because the legacy was going to be in her, in this baby. And my new priority was her and the family unit. And it was humbling, man. Because I mean, I was a fairly selfish guy. Like pretty damn, I don’t know how it rates in most of you. I feel like most of us are sort of biologically….right? But like it made me reassess everything. Made me reassess my nights out. It made me reassess even the work that I did because it was always a trade-off. And it was now always going to be like, all right, well, is it really worth that extra hour? And if it’s an hour away from her? And I can just only imagine with more kids.”

It’s true.! The 41-year-old has changed drastically since having children. In May 2023, he updated his followers on X, revealing that now he prefers to sleep early and get at least 8 hours of adequate sleep, something that he certainly did not implement in his 20s.

Actually, bedtime is easily one of Ohanian’s favorite moments as a father. Just recently, in January he gave everyone a glimpse into his and his daughter’s bedtime routine. Ohanian took to X and wrote, “Bedtime is easily one of my favorite times of the day as a dad, because it means ‘uppy’ (carrying her upstairs and getting a looong hug), we get to do prayers, we recap the day… and she’s finally going to sleep 😆😅 so I get the rest of the night back to myself!”

In January, the 41-year-old co-founder shared a wholesome reel detailing how he manages both his personal and professional life on Instagram. The video featured him hosting his passion project- the Athlos NYC event for female track and field athletes. A first-of-a-kind event that offers the highest prize money in track and field. This is just one of the investments Ohanian has made towards women’s sport. He has long advocated for women’s sports and rightly so- since his wife is one of the most celebrated tennis players of all time. 

Alongside his venture, Ohanian also shared snippets of some cute and heartfelt moments with his daughter, Olympia.

This is how he manages two important aspects of his life. As he said in the video, “I think regardless of the industry, the top practitioners all have a way of thinking that has been informed by their family life. Because, yeah, our work lives often take up as much or more time than we spend with our families. But the two are not separate, they bleed into each other all the time.”
