They dedicated themselves to intensive practice sessions, drawing motivation from Gauff’s stellar performance at an exhibition event in Atlanta.
“You know when Brad got in the team at DC, Coco was able to take his message in a way that, it?s not that we were saying different things to her, but you know, coming from Brad and the charisma that he brings. It?s like this guy is saying that you are doing the right thing so it erases all your doubts and you know any kind of doubt she was having before, she did not have it,” said Serena Williams’ hitting partner.
Jenkins emphasized the importance of the 10-11 days of rigorous training before heading to Washington, D.C., as a crucial period that helped Gauff refocus and commit to her game. When Brad Gilbert joined the team, Jenkins noted that his charismatic approach and alignment with their coaching messages were instrumental in boosting Gauff’s confidence.
