Serena Williams surprised her fans with a rare appearance on one of the most loved animated TV series, The Simpsons. Back in 2001, when the show already gained subsequent popularity, Serena added more fun to the screen in an episode titled “Tennis the Menace.” The storyline revolved around the Simpson family’s regular competitive streak, leading them to step onto the tennis court.

Eventually, they find themselves replaced by the tennis pros Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Andre Agassi, and Pete Sampras. In the end, the family realizes that spectating is always much better than playing, and later on, enjoy a dinner treat hosted by Sampras. Serena’s cameo not only added an amazing touch to the show but also marked a memorable moment in her portfolio of cameos.

2. Avatar: The Last Air Bender

Serena Williams once again stepped into the world of animated adventure with a cameo in the popular series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” back in 2007. As the tennis star liked her previous experience, this time she explored a different segment by giving her voice to the character Ming in the 50th episode titled “The Day of Black Sun, Part 1: The Invasion.” Despite just one appearance, Serena’s contribution added a memorable touch to the famous show.

Serena Williams made another special appearance in the series’ sequel, “The Legend of Korra.” This time, she voiced the character of Female Sage, delving into a fun gig both for her as well as the fans. Despite the fact that the roles were not long enough, her involvement became widely known by her fans across the globe.

3. ‘Sorry’ Music Video Featuring Beyonce and Serena Williams

Serena Williams showcased her glamourous dance moves alongside Beyoncé in the music video for “Sorry,” a track from her visual album “Lemonade.” Serena explained how she got involved, stating, “I have known the director since I was like nine years old. I know Beyonce pretty well, so they were like, ‘We would love for you to be in this particular song. It’s about strength and it’s about courage and that’s what we see you as.'”

Despite the compliment and the wide success of the video, Serena found the experience challenging. Serena also shared how Beyoncé encouraged her to let loose, saying, “She told me that she just wants me to dance, like just be really free and just dance like nobody’s looking and go all out. So that wasn’t easy in the beginning, but then it got easier.” Serena’s cameo in “Sorry” added an extra spark to the video along with a music video gig in her wide portfolio.

4. My Wife and Kids

On her journey to exploring the world of entertainment, Serena Williams also gave sitcoms a try with a guest appearance on the TV show “My Wife and Kids.” She played the character Miss Wiggins in one episode. This moment not only extended Williams’ versatility but also made her gain interest in this particular domain.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, she shared, “I’ve always enjoyed acting.” However, her hectic tennis training schedule also introduced a set of challenges in securing more acting roles. Williams’s cameo in “My Wife and Kids” presented her versatility beyond the tennis court, developing her name in the world of entertainment.

5. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

Serena Williams made a surprising cameo in the popular TV show “Law & Order: SVU.” Despite a short appearance in just one scene, the 23-time Grand Slam winner left a lasting impression on the show. In season 5, episode 12 titled “Brotherhood,” Williams played the role of a college athlete. While she was seen holding a basketball instead of a tennis racket, it was surely a leap from her regular look.

In the episode, detectives Stabler and Benson question her about her encounters with a suspicious fraternity on campus. While Williams has usually played completely different versions of herself in various projects, her role in “Law & Order: SVU” fell in the same line, delving her into a completely fictional character.

With these and several other small and big-intensity roles, Serena Williams’ portfolio in the world of media and entertainment has been quite successful. As fans have loved and supported her various gigs, it is sure that they will keep on expecting more in the future.
