King Richard illustrates the making of child prodigies Venus and Serena Williams and the role of their father-coach Richard Williams in their success. But more importantly, the movie takes the inside world of the Williams family and shows their journey together to the global stage in tennis. So did King Richard’s writer Zach Baylin and director Reinaldo Marcus Green succeed in adapting their real-life story on the big screen? The writer answered recently.
Notably, both Baylin and Green attended the Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles award-season event. During the show, Baylin reflected on meeting Venus and Serena for the first time. In addition, the writer also shared the Williams sisters’ feedback on the movie.

Before this, both the sisters applauded Will Smith’s portrayal of their father, Richard Williams. So much so that Venus and Serena freaked out, witnessing the resemblance in appearance and voice.

King Richard writer shares Venus and Serena Williams’ feedback
First and foremost, film writer Zach Baylin expressed that it was “fairly terrifying” meeting the tennis queens for his pitch. However, it worked out for the best in the end.
What’s more interesting, Venus and Serena did not only “have spoken highly” of King Richard but also claimed it as “a frighteningly accurate portrayal.”

Moreover, many famous personalities watched this biopic in private screenings before its release. While some labeled it as a “Must See,” others gave it “10 out of 10.”
Significantly, all the reviews on Will Smith starring King Richard have been par excellence. Thus, tennis fans and the rest of the world cannot wait to see this inspiring family tale for themselves.

In the United States, the film releases on 19th November 2021. For digital fanatics, King Richard will stream on HBO Max.

Will Venus and Serena play Australian Open 2022?
Fascinatingly, the 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams confirmed that she would compete in Melbourne Park next year. As for Venus, the decision remains unknown.

Earlier, both the sisters took to the court together at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy. Thus, it seems promising that the tennis world will see Venus and Serena again in the Australian Open. Before that, the world will be looking forward to watching the story of their and their father’s legacy in King Richard.
