The younger American gave an interview with Tennis Channel where she talked about her mindset going into the match. As she talked about her form, she received a text, possibly from Pegula, which gave the Tennis Channel a perfect chance to provide a humorous twist. As soon as it pinged, they added Pegula’s name with the text, “Your ass is grass tmrw.“

Gauff has fought with her entire being and has not lost more than 3 games in one set in both of her previous matches. Pegula is playing with a similar intensity as she enters the final stages with only one set lost.

With their smashing performances in the 2022 season, Gauff and Pegula entered the doubles WTA Finals. But that was not all for the duo, as their solo performances also put them in the top eight, qualifying both for the singles WTA Finals as well. This feat was only achieved once by Serena Williams and Venus Williams in 2009.
