Without giving clarity on what was troubling her, the tennis star announced her retirement and therefore left the court with disappointment on her face. This incident was just another continuation of her hard luck at the clay court tournaments. During her run for the title in Rome, Tsurenko experienced a similar start as she faced Donna Vekic in the opening match. While she was able to secure a hard-fought three-setter victory, the round of 64 match against Anhelina Kalinina served her with a setback, as she had to retire soon after the match began.
Her run for the Qatar Open title ended in a similar way, as she had to retire before the round of 16 match against Naomi Osaka. As the retirement curse continues to haunt her journey, the mystery still remains to be unsolved.
