Polish WTA star Iga Swiatek has proven her worth in clay court again. After winning 11 matches consecutively, this world’s number one claimed her Italian Open title against Sabalenka in her 12th match. As she continues to dominate the surface, fans become intrigued to know her plans for the fourth French Open tour. While everyone expected a serious answer, Swiatek amused her fans as she plans to “really enjoy” before another major tour.

In an interview with the Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj, Iga Swiatek channels her humble personality as he speaks about her Rolland Garros ambition and pressures. Host Prakash Amritraj posed a strategic question for her. “Well, you’ll have a week off now before you get ready for Roland Garros. You’ve won three out of the last four there. It seems like you’re so comfortable. Do you feel this victory against Aryna back to back, virtually the perfect clay court season? Do you feel as prepared as ever to go grab number four?”- he asked.

However, Swiatek didn’t seem very enthusiastic in her response. Rather she seemed poised and humble in expressing how she is looking forward to the French Open. “I am going to repeat myself. I’m going to be boring. You know, you have to do everything step by step. Of course, there are seven matches. There, so it’s not easy to win a Grand Slam. The pressure is different, and the intensity of this tournament overall of the court as well” – said Swiatek.

That is why, she seemed more curious to enjoy her time off and keep her mind some rest from the competition- “So I’ll just, you know really enjoy my time off right now because it’s been a long time since I had a week off. So I’ll do that and not think about next goals and for sure when I’m going to be coming to Paris “

This Polish WTA star won her first French Open title when she was just 20 in 2020. Swiatek defeated American WTA star Sofia Kenin to earn her debut Grand Slam. After that, she again won this prestigious major tournament in 2022 after taking down the reigning US Open champion Coco Gauff. Swiatek made her hat trick in Paris last year when she defeated Karolina Muchova. Amritraj’s question hints at Swiatek’s magnificent clay court performance. Despite her achievements, Swiatek amused her fans with her grounded response.

Obviously, I am confident, I feel like I’m playing great tennis, but that doesn’t change the fact that I just want to stay humble. Grand Slams are different. There’s a different pressure on the court and off the court. Of course, I love to come to Paris and be there. It a great place for me to be, and I really enjoy my time there. But these are a hard seven matches that you need to win, so I don’t take anything for granted”- she said in a press conference.

I kind of knew that if I’m going to work hard and if I’m going to be in the right mindset, this is achievable, I’m happy I was so focused and disciplined throughout the tournament to do that. For sure this match looked a little bit differently than in Madrid, I felt like I’m putting a lot of pressure. I just continued doing that throughout the whole match. Really proud of myself and really happy” she said post-victory.

Iga Swiatek’s revelation about her French Open dream showcases her humble personality. Despite rocking her game on the clay court, Swiatek channeled the vibe of a normal girl, who can’t wait to pack her bag and celebrate after a hectic Rome win.
