“Certified Soulmates” Aryna Sabalenka and Paula Badosa‘s famous friendship has left fans with immense delight. When Sabalenka faced a challenging situation during the Miami Open, Badosa didn’t waste a minute to comfort her best friend. Now, months after the two-time Australian Open champion’s “don’t like to watch it” comment, bestie Paula Badosa again refutes Sabalenka’s claim showing a strong bond between the duo.
Journalist Jose Morgado shared Paula Badosa’s comment on her bestie Aryna Sabalenka’s opinion about not enjoying WTA tournaments. “Paula Badosa asked about Sabalenka’s claims of not watching women’s tennis. ‘I’m pretty sure she watches WTA because she watches me.'”- tweeted the source on their X platform.
Interestingly, Badosa saw the tweet and replied with- “Hahahahahahaha @SabalenkaA.” Her statement refers to Sabalenka’s controversial comment after defeating Magda Linette by 6-4, 3-6, and 6-3 – “I’m not someone who watches too much tennis, I prefer to watch men’s tennis rather than women’s tennis, I feel like there is more strategy and it’s more interesting to watch.”

The Belarusian star didn’t mean to hurt feelings and later defended her comment, “I didn’t want to disparage women’s tennis, no, listen, I mean, we are doing our best and, great, there are lots of great matches. I don’t like to watch it just because I play against all of them and I just want to kind of like change the picture.”
“I watch lots of women’s tennis before I go to the match, I watch my opponents, I watch lots of women’s tennis. It’s not like I don’t like it or like I try to offend what I do, you know. I just find it more fun to watch the men play because I spend a lot of time studying my opponents, so then in my free time I don’t want to see the girls I play against again.”
Paula Badosa’s comment on Sabalenka’s controversial opinion revealed their friendship. As fans, Badosa’s opinion can’t be ignored as she is truly Sabalenka’s best friend. During the Miami Open 2024, Sabalenka lost her former boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov who was a former professional ice hockey player on Monday. Then she appeared for her match against Badosa on Thursday.
Sabalenka had full mental support from her best friend as Paula has commented – “I don’t really want to talk about it because I said I’m not going to talk about it. She’s my best friend and I promised that. She’s a strong woman. I think she will get the power from somewhere. I hope it’s going to be a battle, a good match.”
