Coco Gauff had a stroke of hard luck yet again at the French Open. During the semifinal match the World No.1 Iga Swiatek easily subdued Gauff’s attempt to get past her into the final. The Pole took the first set rather easily with the score of 6-2. Though the World No.3 tried to make a comeback, Swiatek proved to be the unbreakable wall as the latter claimed the 2nd set with 6-4.

This is the third consecutive time at the French Open that the American tennis star was stopped by Swiatek. However, despite the heartbreaking exit from Roland Garros, Gauff has a consistent source of support, her family! And they make sure to celebrate every feat with a bang.

Despite her semifinal exit, Gauff climbed up the live ranking in the WTA, yet again claiming the spot of Aryna Sabalenka. While this is not the first time the American is ahead of the Belarusian, this time by 200 points, it’s a monumental feat for the 20-year-old tennis star. Though she might not be in the mood to celebrate this recent development, her family certainly is! Her brother Codey Gauff shared her achievement in his Instagram story, which displays a jubilant Coco with hands raised and captioned as “Coco Gauff New World No.2 “.

It wasn’t just the family that celebrated Gauff’s rise in rank, but also her compatriot, Chris Eubanks. He also shared the same story as her brother, as a way of showing support to his friend.

Moreover, during her upsetting semifinal at the French Open, Gauff was not alone. On the contrary, she had celebrities lined up in her support though she had to keep them in her head!

Coco Gauff’s music list during her semi-final match

In preparation for her match against her archnemesis, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff leveraged every trick in the book to keep herself hyped and give her best on the court. In the post-match interview she revealed her playlist to the media, she said, “J. Cole, Lil Baby, Drake, Kendrick, all of them. Who else? Yeah, Eminem. Basically any rapper you can think of is probably on that playlist.”

Despite all the ado, she was unable to overcome the strong Pole. It was a tough match for the American tennis star, as in her 4 clashes with the Pole at the clay court Gauff has drawn a blank. And this time too she was unable to break the World No. 1.

However, with all the support rallying behind the World No.2, she would get through the French Open ‘jinx’ sooner or later. But it would be interesting to watch her overcome the Polish challenge.
