The tennis community has witnessed some of the finest French Open encounters on the Court Philippe-Chatrier. However, there will be yet another spectacular showdown on the center court as the third-seeded American, Coco Gauff, squares off against the in-form Italian, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, in the fourth round.

Gauff will be vying for a spot in her first championship match of the season since the ASB Classic. Cocciaretto, on the other hand, has reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam event for the first time in her competitive journey, and she now aims to further her run in Paris.

After a semifinal finish at the Italian Open, the American tennis prodigy entered the French Open as the 3rd-seed participant. Gauff started her campaign on the Parisian clay by brushing aside the likes of Tamara Zidanšek and Julia Avdeeva in straight sets. Even in her third-round match, the reigning Grand Slam champion clinched yet another thumping straight-set victory against the 30th seed, Dayana Yastremska.

Elisabetta Cocciaretto, on the other hand, is coming to the tournament after a quarterfinal finish at the Morocco Open. Entering the Grand Slam event as an unseeded participant, the Italian player pulled off major upsets against the 13th seed, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and the 17th seed, Liudmila Samsonova.

The fourth-round clash between Coco Gauff and Elisabetta Cocciaretto on the Parisian clay will also mark their third meeting on the women’s circuit. But this will be the first-ever clay court encounter between the WTA players. As she has prevailed in both their previous meetings at the Dubai Duty-Free Championships and Guadalajara Open, Gauff has a 2-0 lead in their H2H record.

Prediction: Coco Gauff to emerge victorious in this R4 in Paris

The current number 3 player was clinical in her first match against Avdeeva, as she had a remarkable 96% winning percentage on her first serves. In her second and third-round matches, Gauff managed to remain consistent on her first serves, converting 73% of the points. She has also managed to hit 8 aces during her campaign in Paris. If she manages to emulate such aggressive serves, Gauff can make short work of her Italian opponent.

Meanwhile, Cocciaretto recently failed to hit an ace in her third-round match against Samsonova. She has just reached her first Grand Slam fourth round and doesn’t have the same major experience as her American opponent.

Hence, Coco Gauff will most likely clinch a straight-set win against Cocciaretto.
