The 2022 season is turning out to be a memorable one for young tennis stars. From Iga Swiatek to Carlos Alcaraz, these players have defied age to be amongst the elite players in their categories. One such player is the American tennis sensation, Coco Gauff. The 18-year-old is having a memorable year, both on the tennis court and the academic front. She entered the French Open 2022, having graduated from high school.

Yesterday, she defeated Martina Trevisan in the semifinals. It was a dominating performance by the American teenage star, giving her opponent little breathing space. Subsequently, she received praise from tennis legend Martina Navratilova.
Martina Navratilova lauds Coco Gauff
The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion took to Twitter to express her awe of Coco Gauff. She said, “Bravo Coco- in every way!!!” Earlier, Coco, while talking to the press, said that she is a human being before a tennis player and therefore has the right to talk of other things.

During her match against Italy’s Martina Trevisan, Gauff was on the front foot right from the word go. She broke Trevisan’s serve in the third game of the first set. However, the Italian broke back right after to level things up. Subsequently, it led to a series of breaks of serves, as both players found it difficult to win points in their service games. At 3-3, Gauff took the next three games to clinch the opening set 6-3.

Further, the second set was a one-sided affair. After holding her opening service game, Trevisan failed to hold her subsequent service games in the set as Coco won the set, 6-1 to enter the finals of the tournament.
Gauff to face Swiatek in the finals of the French Open 2022
The 18-year-old American will take on World Number 1, Iga Swiatek, in the summit clash of Roland Garros. Swiatek breezed past Daria Kasatkina to continue her winning streak. With her semifinal victory, the Polish tennis ace has won 34 consecutive matches and tied Serena Williams’ second-longest women’s winning streak since 2000.
