The Canadian tennis star is flying high at the ongoing French Open. However, during her upset win over Anna Kalinskaya, a controversial moment caught the attention of the tennis world. The incident occurred in the third set while Kalinskaya was facing break points. At 15-40, Andreescu missed an easy forehand winner and hit the ball long. Frustrated by her mistake, she screamed her throat out and caused bizarre scenes in the stadium.

The video of the incident was shared by one of the fans on social media and it went viral as soon as it went out. Catching the attention of Andreescu herself, she reacted by saying, “I can’t,” along with some laughing and hands on the head emojis. Subsequently, she also apologized for her act and said, “Embarrassing af, apologies.”

Despite Bianca’s emotional display, the lower-ranked player (World No. 228) pulled off an upset victory over the No. 25 seed, which brought her praises. Eurosport tennis expert Laura Robson is thrilled to see Bianca Andreescu back in form. “The match against Anna Kalinskaya in the last round was so tight,” Robson told Eurosport. Following Andreescu’s thrilling three-set victory over Anna Kalinskaya at the French Open, Robson lauded the Canadian’s diverse skillset, saying “she can do everything.”

This variety has particularly impressed Robson, who hopes Andreescu can finally overcome her recent injury struggles and turn a corner in her career. “We saw a lot of that against Kalinskaya. To be honest, I’m so happy to see her back because she’s struggled so much with injury over the last few years and if anyone deserves to be healthy, it’s Andreescu.”

Despite not-so-ideal scenes in the stadium, Andreescu kept her composure to upset her higher-ranked opponent. However, Andreescu is no stranger to such shouting incidents during her matches. Last year, a fan had to bear the brunt of Andreescu’s screams after turning rogue.

The fan kept cheering when Andreescu was missing serves and the noise often reached the Canadian star. Additionally, the fan was also shouting ‘Out’ after Andreescu missed serves. When enough was enough for Andreescu, she turned towards the crowd and screamed ‘Shut up!’ at the guy who was annoying her.

Eventually, security was called to remove that fan from the stadium. But Andreescu refused to play until the fan left. Despite the jeers stopping, Andreescu couldn’t maintain her calm and went on to lose the match in the final set tiebreaker. Nonetheless, it is redemption time for the Canadian star as she will face Jasmine Paolini later today in the French Open third round. It’ll be interesting to see if Andreescu can dig deep in Paris.
