Emma Novarro‘s run for the title at Roland Garros is moving swiftly. The WTA star, who seems to be quite focused this time, secured a spot in the third round where she will face her compatriot Madison Keys. The French Open is the last event to determine which four players will be representing the USA at the upcoming Paris Olympics. While Novarro is already lagging behind in terms of ranking, her upcoming match is worth more than just the Roland Garros glory.
The clay court season will be longer than the usual ones this year. While the tennis tour generally sees off the red dirt after the French Open, this time the Olympics is set to be on the same ground. Only four players from the USA be honored with an opportunity to represent their nation at the glorious event. While Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula have already confirmed their spots by gathering high-ranking points, the tussle is still going on for Emma Navarro.
An all-American clash awaits 🤩

Navarro currently stands on the 20th spot in the world rankings. While Keys enjoys a comfortable lead of over 1000 points, but a win for Navarro today in this crucial match would significantly become an opening to bridge the gap. However, Keys who made it to the semi-finals in Madrid and quarter-finals in Rome, appears to be in dominant form, standing as a big hurdle for her upcoming match rival.
As both the American WTA stars are matched against each other, the tussle is going to be quite intense. While there’s a lot more than just the Roland Garros participation at stake, it is evident that Navarro has to be all in, as her dreams for the Paris Olympics depend on it.
