After shutting down all the criticism about her faulty forehand on clay, this reigning US Open champion finally entered the Roland Garros semifinals for the first time. However, there awaits one of her biggest competitors, Iga Swiatek! Thinking of “a better way to play her”, Gauff reveals her “hyped” music list to keep her calm.
Gauff candidly spoke about her preparations before meeting one of her biggest competitors, Iga Swiatek. Amid many of her preparations, Gauff spoke about her choice of music to bring her energy into the game. According to ESPN, “then on Thursday in the buildup to the semifinal it’ll be the usual playlist. Christian gospel music for the warmup.” In response to ESPN’s statement, Gauff mentioned that such music helps her erase her nervousness and brings her much-needed calm before an important match. “Sometimes when I’m nervous it helps me calm down,” said Gauff.
However, for her upcoming match against Iga Swiatek, Gaff revealed an exciting line-up for herself, which she calls “hyped.” Speaking of her love for rap, Gauff said- ” J. Cole, Lil Baby, Drake, Kendrick, all of them. Who else? Yeah, Eminem. Basically any rapper you can think of is probably on that playlist.”

This reigning US Open champion is all set to face off against Iga Swiatek in Paris’s semifinals. This is their 12th meeting against each other on the court. Switek has defeated Gauff 1o times in their 11 meetings previously. The American tennis star defeated Swiatek only once in the Cincinnati Masters 2023. Gauff also couldn’t stand against the world’s number one in the Italian Open quarterfinals.

While Gauff is prepping up hard to change her fate against the Polish this time, she can’t help but admit Swiatek’s incredible skills making it tough to play against her. Mentioning the Polish WTA star’s advantage on clay, Gauff reveals her strategy against her.

“I definitely think I have to find a better way to play her than the last time I played on clay because I’ve obviously been unsuccessful the last couple of times we’ve played — regardless of the surface and anything, She’s definitely a tough opponent for me. And for anybody”- Gauff said.
