Rennae Stubbs applauds Serena Williams for her consistency on the court
In a recent podcast, former Australian player Rennae Stubbs lauded Serena’s tenacity and strong will power. She touched upon how the 23-time Grand Slam champion started playing during the era of Steffi Graff and other champions and has continued to dominate the sport well beyond that. her dominance has been apparent until a bit of a downfall in recent years.
“Well, I think what displays Chanda, is the incredible tenacity and will of Serena, because you have mentioned some amazingly great champions. I mean, she did start playing with Steffi, was still playing, they played a few times. You know, you think about that and you think about the fact that she was around, you know, during the Kim Clijsters, Justin Anna period, Emily Mauresmo. You know, the list was long,” said Stubbs.
Now a tennis analyst, Stubbs revealed that all the great players who started playing before or with Serena have already retired. Thus, she praised her once again and claimed that it is not easy to maintain that consistency since one has to face many physical and emotional barriers on the journey.
“Jennifer Capriati, I mean, all the great champions that she played against that retired, they didn’t want to keep going anymore. Because it’s I don’t think people understand how difficult it is day in and day out to physically put yourself through it, and emotionally put yourself through it,” added the former World No.64 player.
