Venus Williams may not be active on the tour currently, but she definitely doesn’t seem to miss her practice sessions. The 7-time grand slam winner keeps her fans updated on her activities regularly through social media. Although her sister Serena Williams bid adieu to the sport last year, Venus still hopes to get back on the court. Earlier this year, she talked about her hopes of returning to action soon. She took to Instagram recently to share glimpses from her practice session in Florida and talked about a certain wish of hers that would probably remain unfulfilled. Here is what she was talking about.
Venus Williams and her love for Superhero capes
During a practice session under the scorching heat in Jupiter, Florida, Venus posted a picture of herself on Instagram wearing an all-white sports attire. In the post, she expressed her desire to don a ‘cape’, also mentioning how that would be impossible amidst the current weather in Florida.

She wrote, “All I need is a cape 🦸🏿🦸🏿🦸🏿 but quite frankly it’s too hot for all that right now in Florida 🥵. I will leave the drama for when it cools down 🥶🤪 I’m sure the weather is much cooler @rolandgarros . Ok going to stop rambling 😗😅”.

She also put out an Instagram story sharing another picture with the caption, “It’s extremely warm here. Playing in the heat is like playing in a sauna”.
Venus’ love for superheroes is not unknown. The 42-year-old has previously opened up about her admiration for the DC and Marvel franchises. During an earlier fan interaction, she revealed that her favorite superheroes were Doctor Strange, Thor, and Loki. Of course, Venus’ admiration for Wonder Woman is also a well-known fact. Her brand, EleVen’s Wonder Woman-inspired collection ‘I am Wonder Woman’, released in 2021, is a testament to her eternal love for the DC character.

When will Venus make a comeback on the tour?
The 14-time grand slam doubles champion spent the majority of the 2o22 season on the sidelines owing to a series of injuries. However, she made an inspiring comeback earlier this year at the ASB Classic in Auckland by winning her first competitive singles match in 18 months against compatriot Katie Volynets. Unfortunately, her injury woes continued, and she had to pull out of the Australian Open. It will be interesting to see whether she can overcome her obstacles yet again and make another Wonder Woman-like comeback. It would be delightful to see her on the tour for possibly one final run.
Donning a ‘cape’ or not, she sure is a superhero when she graces the court. Which superhero do you think Venus Williams resembles the most? Let us know in the comments.
