Ashleigh Barty shockingly announced her retirement. While many are disappointed with her decision, there are few supporting her for considering her own priorities. One such person is the very famous coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, who came out in support of the player’s bold move.

Ashleigh Barty, the Australian tennis professional, is just 25 and it won’t be wrong to say that she is currently in her best form. Barty won her first Grand Slam in 2019 French Open. Further, she recently won the Australian open’s singles title and became the first home player to do so in 44 years.

Although Barty started the year with a bang in Australian Open, she didn’t take part in any of the tournaments after that. We can take her withdrawal from Indian Wells and Miami Open as hints from her side. However, what’s enough is that Barty is happy with her decision.

While Twitter flooded with mixed reactions, Patrick Mouratoglou also weighed in by saying, “Rare enough to see some people follow their heart rather than the stream. Bravo @ashbarty.”

Ashleigh Barty Has Already Made Her Name

Barty took a break in 2014 and kind of diverted her flow towards Cricket. She took part in Women’s Big Bash League, though she came back to tennis afterwards and was stronger than ever.

Ashley Barty is of the finest players in WTA and her records back it up. Barty is the second Australian tennis player to achieve the World no. 1 ranking in WTA and has 15 singles titles. However, for her singles isn’t the limit, she has some splendid records in doubles as well. Barty was in the top ten players in doubles and has a career highest ranking of 5. Moreover, she has 12 doubles titles, making her a perfect player for both the formats.

She addressed her retirement by saying, “I’m so happy and I’m so ready. And I just know at the moment in my heart, for me as a person, this is right.”

She is not leaving tennis owning to poor form or repeated terrible performance as she has the no.1 ranking currently and is holding it since past 120 weeks. Instead, she is leaving the game to focus on some of her other interests. She has the courage to give up on something she is so good is more than enough to prove that her mental strength is truly impeccable.
