The movie king Richard was a total hit at the box office and also earned appreciation from the critics. However, Will Smith, who portrayed Richard, brought unnecessary attention to the movie at the Oscars.

Will slapped the host of the night, Chris Rock, for cracking a joke about his wife Jada’s hair. Thereby, attracting a variety of comments. Recently, Jada Pinkett Smith addressed the matter and how the Smith family is coping with the situation.

Now that it has been some time since the incident occurred, Jada disclosed a few things about her family in the premiere episode of Red table talks. She wrote, “Considering all that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family has been focusing on deep healing.” 

“Some of the discoveries around our healing will be shared at the table when the time calls,” she added.

What Consequences Did Will Face?

Will Smith could have apologized just a few hours after the incident, as he received the award for the best actor in front of the same crowd. But he chose not to do so. Thus, inviting a tremendous backlash from all over the world. Therefore, a day after his anger-ridden move, Smith wrote a long apology letter accepting his faults to mend the situation.

Chris Rock seems to take the incident lightly as he took no legal actions against Smith. Even so, the Academy awards punished the actor in their own way. A week after the night of the Oscars Academy award’s decision was circulated. They banned Will Smith from all Academy events, including the Oscars, for 10 years.
