Martina Navratilova, the former Czechoslovak-American tennis player, is regarded by many as the greatest tennis player of all time. Certainly, her incredible statistics can support this claim. In recent times, she has been giving her views about various issues, particularly on social media.
Previously, she expressed her disappointment over the imprisonment of WNBA player Brittney Griner in Russia. Now, she showed her concern over the basketball player’s future after gaining knowledge of her recent trial.

Notably, back in February, the Phoenix Mercury star was arrested at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport after finding vape cannisters with cannabis oil in her luggage. During last month’s trial, she found out that she could face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty of large-scale transportation of drugs. Now, according to various reports, she pleaded guilty during the trial for possession of drugs while also stressing that the act was committed unintentionally as she was packing in haste.
Meanwhile, the American authorities are trying their best to release the player from prison.

Navratilova’s career as a professional tennis player
In 2006, Navratilova announced her retirement from professional tennis, almost at the age of 50. Before that, she created a huge legacy, which will be difficult for any player to match, as only Chris Evert came close to equaling her records.

Speaking about her records, she has 18 Grand Slam singles titles to her name. Apart from that, she won 31 doubles and 10 mixed doubles titles; In total, she won 59 Grand Slam titles. Moreover, she won 369 career titles, including 167 singles titles and 177 doubles events. Her overall winning record is 2189-362, with an 85.89 win percentage.

In 1994, she decided to retire momentarily from tennis and then returned to competitive action in the early 2000s. After retiring from tennis, she has been working mainly as an expert and commentator. However, she expressed her desire to join politics in the past on numerous occasions.
