The American actor, Will Smith, has played the lead character of Richard Williams. Recently, Smith said he saw similarities between his upbringing and the Williams sisters’.

Moreover, he also shared his experience of being a father of two children. Fans have appreciated the commitment of Will playing the role of the father to two of the greatest female tennis players of all time.

Biopic ‘King Richard’ is remarkably getting inside the top 10 movies of 2021. The appreciation from critics and fans is truly overwhelming. Will Smith recently drew a parallel between Richard Williams and his own father.

Will Smith quoted,” He (Richard Williams) was very, very similar to my father. Dad was tough but not tyrannical. He kept me in line. He’d get this look that said, ‘One more step, Will, and it’ll get ugly’.”

Furthermore, the American actor added, “ I wrote my memoir over the past couple of years so I was deeper into myself and into my comprehension of my father and my ­relationship with my father and my relationship with my children.”

Smith believes the similarities helped him to get into the shoes of Richard Williams. Just like his father, Richard felt disrespected and disregarded by the world.

Venus and Serena penned down an emotional message

Soon after watching the premiere of ‘King Richard’, Venus and Serena Williams were completely taken aback and penned down a touching message. Both the tennis stars felt extremely grateful to have a movie crafted on their lives.

The Williams sisters applauded the splendid work from Demi Singleton, Sanniya Sidney, and Will Smith. Sidney played the role of Venus Williams while Singleton got the opportunity to lead the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena.
