Danielle Collins' Olympic obsession—Is this the kind of patriotism we need more of in sports?

The Paris Olympics has gripped every sports fan with excitement. Spectators are prepped to watch their favorite athletes go all out for their countries. Since the USTA announced its Olympics roaster, people have been delighted to see Danielle Collins joining the fray. Since her retirement announcement, Collins was happy she qualified for the tournament. She takes it a step further and dons an exclusive art inspired by the hues of her country.

The Miami Open champion is all set to represent the United States with Coco Gauff, Emma Navarro, Jessica Pegula, and Desirae Krawczyk. This Olympics marks a special occasion for her before she finally leaves her professional tennis career behind. To celebrate her participation in this special event, Collins tried an all-new nail art, taking inspiration from the aesthetics of her country’s flag, she shared a picture of her nails on her official Instagram story, Collins wrote, “Olympics here I come.”

The Danimal is a connoisseur of nail art. Before Wimbledon, she painted her nails in the aesthetics of the British Slam with cute strawberries as the highlights. “Wimbledon ready!! 💜💚🍓,” wrote Collins on her official Instagram story.

Danielle Collins reveals why the Paris Olympics matter so much

After winning against Sloane Stephens in the Charleston Open Round of 16 Collins spoke about her Olympics goal. She also revealed why participating in this event is so special to her. “I would love nothing more to represent my country. My favorite memories on the court are honestly the weeks at the Billie Jean King Cup. There’s nothing, nothing like it.

The excitement for the event enhances for her as she is surrounded by familiar faces. “And especially being on the team with, you know, these women that I’ve known for a very long time, Jess and I are the same age and close friends, and, Maddie Keys and I have known each other since we were, like, 8 or 9 years old, and we used to be pen pals, and then, you know, with Coco and Emma and them being a little bit younger over the last couple of years, really got to know Coco well and spent time with her and, you know, Emma and I went to the same school, and so,” Collins said.
