In one of the most surprising comebacks this year at Wimbledon, former champion Angelique Kerber has proved that she will always be a threat to other players on a grass court. The German player has reached the semi-finals at SW19 for the fourth time in her career.

On her way to the semis, Kerber defeated the likes of Sara Sorribes Tormo and Coco Gauff. Despite not having the strongest of serves, her return game at SW19 was exquisite, to say the least.

Angelique Kerber ousts Karolina Muchova in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon

During her quarter-final matchup against Karolina Muchova, the German displayed top notch tennis to oust her opponent in straight sets 6-2,6-3.

Kerber produced an all-round game to overpower the Czech player. She won 62% of points on her second serve in comparison to her opponent’s 37 percentage. Also, the three-time grand slam winner won four out of the six break point opportunities presented to her.

Muchova, on the other hand, was also given a plenty of break point chances but she managed to convert just one and it became one of the many reasons for her crushing defeat.

With this victory, Kerber will have an improvement on the WTA singles rankings post the conclusion of event. Ahead of the Championships, the former world number one won a grass court event back on her home-soil.

Talking after a stunning quarter-final victory on the Center court, Kerber’s interview was intervened when a fan proposed to the German out loud.

Coming to the tournament, Angelique Kerber will now await the winner of the contest between Ashleigh Barty and Ajla Tomljanovic in the semis.
