Coco Gauff’s 2023 season is the one that she will never forget. The 19-year-old became the women’s tour’s newest sensation after marking her maiden Grand Slam triumph on her home soil. Following her 2023 U.S. Open title-winning run in New York, the American tennis prodigy gave glory to God as she showcased her Christian faith.

Now that the new season has kicked off, Gauff is diligently following her spiritual path, according to her recent social media post. The reigning US Open champion recently took another leap of faith after starting her campaign at the Auckland Classic on a high note.

The WTA 250 tournament is currently underway in Auckland, New Zealand, ahead of the first Grand Slam event of the season. Now that she has reached the top 3 rankings on the WTA Tour, Coco Gauff has entered the ASB Classic as the number one-seed player. In her first-round match, the American tennis prodigy swept aside her compatriot, Claire Liu, 6-4, 6-2.

After starting the new tennis season with a bang, the young WTA sensation discussed her faith in God and what she’s been praying for as she has now become one of the big guns on the tour. In her recent Instagram story, Gauff shared screenshots that read, “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.”

In another Instagram story, the reigning Grand Slam champion said, “The last gem I want to share before bed is goodnight.” It read, “But those who hope in the LoRD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”

After her US Open triumph in 2023, the 19-year-old player has once again openly talked about her Christian faith as she starts the new tennis season. Gauff will now have to lock horns with Brenda Fruhvirtova in order to proceed to the quarterfinals of the ASB Classic.
