Paula Badosa crumbled to the mighty grit of Emma Navarro! The 23-year-old American tennis star defeated the in-form Spaniard by 6-2,7-5 in the high-voltage QF clash of the 2024 US Open. And advanced to her first career Grand Slam SF. In an on-court interview with Rennae Stubbs, Navarro revealed that she’s at that point in her career where she’s not “scared” of any result or making a run in any tournament. This, along with her other words, have now become the talk of the town.
In the second set, Paula Badosa went up by 5-1, but she failed to retain the lead and lost the set by 7-5. Emma Navarro managed to win six games in a row including 24 out of the 28 points to seal the deal! Reflecting on her thoughts about that epic set, Navarro said, “After I got it back to 5-2, I kind of had a little bit of an inkling that it might be two sets.” Navarro explained that she remained determined to stay focused and mentally prepare herself for a potential third set, even if she lost the second.

After hearing this, Stubbs then looked a bit amazed and asked her if she could explain a bit about how she felt about those “two sets.” In reply, the NY-born tennis star replied, “I can’t see the future but maybe today could a little bit. Umm, yeah I don’t know I just felt like I might be able to win this in two sets.”
On the other hand, Paula Badosa is a former world number 2. Although the Spaniard struggled a bit earlier this season, she has made a strong comeback at the US hard-court swing. Badosa won a title in Washington, reached the SF in Cincinnati, and even here in NY she has looked quite impressive before this match. She also defeated Navarro this year itself at the Italian Open in R64. Even there, Badosa made a comeback to win that contest by 1-6,6-4,6-4.
Fans were also a bit baffled with Emma’s unusual reply! Some of them even bashed her for making such cold comments.

Emma Navarro also thanked her coach and her family members for their constant support in her journey. “I think he (Ben Navarro) a vision from the time I was really young. He knew maybe I was a little bit ADHD or something to be sitting in a classroom or in a 9 to 5. I think he saw something in me from a young age so thanks Dad for sending me on this journey.“

However one of them came up with a unique suggestion, “@ Emma Navarro, you’re getting dragged on tt I will defend you asap if you wire transfer me $25 million.”
