The GOAT debate is one that will never vanish in any sport. Tennis falls into that category, and fans have time and again raged on social media while discussing their GOAT pick. We received another input for the debate from Yvonne Orji, an Actress and Comedian. She interviewed in an Exclusive with EssentiallySports and took the names of Serena Williams and Venus Williams, along with a few other stars she deemed to be great.

This is not the first time someone has deemed Serena Williams to be the GOAT of tennis. The current WTA US Open champion also said that there can be only one GOAT in tennis, and that is the younger Williams sister.

The Desert Smash event is a charity event in tennis that sees stars from several fields collaborate with tennis players. This year, the event is held in La Quinta, California, and EssentiallySports is there to cover it. Yvonne Orji, a Nigerian-American actress and comedian, was also at the event and was interviewed by EssentiallySports.

When asked to name her choice for the greatest player of all time (GOAT) in tennis, Orji quickly said, “I got to say the Williams sisters. I grew up watching Jennifer Capriati, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, so many greats.” While the 40-year-old actress took many names, she did not even have to think before naming the Williams sisters.

The tennis world is split in the GOAT debate and is bound to debate it endlessly. Along with Orji, a tennis star also believes that Serena Williams is the greatest tennis player of all time.

Coco Gauff’s admiration for Williams stands strong

Coco Gauff, a 19-year-old tennis player, has consistently expressed her appreciation for Serena Williams. Gauff realizes that, while many people can accomplish greatness in their own unique way, there can only be one GOAT. “Obviously, there’s only going to be one greatest of all time and I just feel like no matter what I do, I don’t think anything I’ll do will compare to what Serena [Williams] did for the sport and the game and with the amount of times she won”, Gauff said in an interview.
