As the NFL legend shared his thoughts about Serena Williams at the Desert Smash event, EssentiallySports was there to cover every bit of the story. The younger Williams sister seems to be the favorite at the event as another personality picked her as the GOAT.

NFL legend talks about the impact of Serena Williams

Reggie Bush is a former football running back who made an appearance at the Desert Smash charity event in La Quinta, California. EssentiallySports was in the venue to cover the event and talked to Bush about tennis. The former NFL star was asked if the sport would speak more to the younger audience. Bush replied by saying that it already does, owing a lot to Serena Williams.

Bush said, “We have women like Coco Gauff. Serena Williams who is the queen, who’s really paved the way for people of color, women of color, to play tennis at a high level, I think that’s all you can ask for. You know, for someone to set the bar and continue to raise the bar. I think Serena set the bar; you got young players like Gauff to take it even higher. So to me, that’s what I love seeing about sport.

As Bush shared his adoration for Williams, he became one of the many stars who praised the 23-time grand slam champion for her efforts. Along with him was another American personality, who called Serena Williams the GOAT.

Serena and Venus Williams are the GOAT

Yvonne Orji, a Nigerian-American actress and comedian, participated in the Desert Smash event and was interviewed by EssentiallySports. When asked to give her name for the GOAT of the sport, Orji said, “I got to say the Williams sisters. I grew up watching Jennifer Capriati, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, so many greats.”

Orji also showed love for the former number 1 at an event where she was already being loved. Desert Smash will be followed by the Indian Wells Masters, and we might see more players come forward to talk about their adoration of the Williams sisters.
