Life hasn’t been easy for Emma Raducanu ever since the dream fortnight in New York, where she laid hands on the coveted US Open trophy. Injuries, withdrawals, and failure have become the norm for the 2021 US Open winner. However, being the first British woman to win a major since Virginia Wade in 1977 has its perks. The sponsorship deals from Dior, Wilson, and British Airways came flying in for the 20-year-old after winning the major. Raducanu was also honored with MBE by King Charles for her services in tennis at Windsor Castle in November 2022. While receiving the award, the British star faced first-hand embarrassment from none other than King Charles himself. But what did the King say?

She said via The Times, “He asked me, ‘So, have you found a coach?’ I was like, ‘That’s good banter!’ It was so funny, I was laughing because everyone was ripping me for not having a coach. I was like, ‘The fact you know this, I feel honoured’.

The 20-year-old has a poor track record with her coaches. She has had five different coaches in the last two years and after recently parting ways with Sebastian Sachs, the Briton is set to hire the sixth one.

Fans on social media, experts in the media, and now King Charles at Windsor Castle, all have taken jibes at Emma Raducanu for her coaching history. However, not all were trying to having a friendly banter about her decisions. The American tennis legend, John McEnroe, once opened up about Raducanu’s frequent changes to her coaching staff.
