Ever since her last match of the season at WTA Monterrey Open, fans of Canadian tennis sensation Eugenie Bouchard have been waiting for her to make a comeback on-tour. Bouchard underwent an arthroscopic surgery and is currently hitting practice courts.

The 2014 Wimbledon finalist recently shared an empathetic message on her Instagram stories. It’s about the people who feel anxious and get a sense of isolation during the holidays season.

For the 1 in 2 Canadians with feeling of anxiety, depression, or isolation during the holidays, it’s not the most wonderful time of the year. Thinking of everyone out there”. The message was tweeted by Alyson, a fan of Eugenie Bouchard.

As a player who witnessed highs as well as a disappointing lows in her tennis career so far, Bouchard recently began talking about mental health and how she was told multiple times that she couldn’t handle pressure.

At that time, it’s been six years, we didn’t talk about mental health like we talk about it now. In the old days, we would have been told: “you’re a baby, you can’t handle the pressure” .So, I didn’t mention it. Now the general population realizes that it is part of sport. It’s good that we can have these discussions”, the Canadian told in an interview few months ago.

Bouchard is back on a tennis court as she prepares to make a comeback

During her rehab phase, Bouchard has also taken up the role of an analyst, partnering with few media houses and even had a short-time stint at the Tennis Channel covering the US Open. After hitting the gym and preparing herself for practice, Bouchard posted a video of her getting back on a tennis court.

One of the brightest talents when she entered the WTA tour as the next big thing, Bouchard went on to defeat the likes of Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, and Simona Halep, etc., The Canadian struggled to maintain consistency and it affected her rankings as years progressed.

In the little tennis that we got to see last year, Eugenie Bouchard made it to the finals in Istanbul, where she was defeated by Patricia Maria Tig. With the Canadian looking to bounce back stronger than ever, she is yet to reveal her comeback tournament.
