Aura points to Eugenie ‘Genie’ Bouchard. The festive season has brought the best out of her this season, though her credentials in tennis haven’t seen any improvement. After stepping back from the sport and switching to Pickleball, the Canadian sensation finally found time to treat herself on Christmas, alongside her sister.
The former World No. 5 was one of the breakout stars in 2014. Her phenomenal performances stunned the community, and she electrified crowds with her back-to-back stellar results at top-tier events on the WTA Tour. Bouchard reached the semifinal, or higher, at three of the four Grand Slams. Best known for her final appearance at Wimbledon in 2014, the Canadian player only started her ascension in tennis. However, injury concerns plagued her journey.
Consequently, she was forced to go on a 17-month hiatus, sidelining her major events, including the Australian Open and the French Open. However, when she did return, things didn’t sail as smoothly as one would expect. She failed to qualify for the Flushing Meadows Slam and later announced commencing her journey in the racket alternative, Pickleball. Though not retired from tennis, Bouchard has grown to become one of the prominent figures in Pickleball.
