Former world’s number-one WTA star Serena Williams has a special spot for the ESPYS Awards Show. Not only did she win 12 awards here but post-retirement she returned to the event but in a new avatar. Waiting to “celebrate” athletes on stage, Williams fuels excitement for the event with a personalized message for everyone.
Just a day before the event, Serena Williams shared her excitement about hosting the ESPYS Awards this year. “Guess who’s hosting the Espys on @espn this year??? MEEEEE and I am so excited. And nervous 😬 ” She also shared a clip while entering her special room in a black bodycon dress and oversized denim jacket. Williams looked beautiful as she accessorized her look with a baseball cap and sunglasses. Her expression could tell that she was delighted and honored to be able to take up the role of the host.

In May, Disney announced Williams as ESPYS’ new host during their upfront presentation to the advertisers. last year, the event didn’t have any host due to the ongoing strike of the Writers Guild of the United States. In May, the former World’s number one WTA star also shared ESPN’s official Instagram post on her story announcing that she “can’t wait to celebrate everyone on stage in July.” ESPN teased a special announcement featuring Serena Williams, showing her in a posture ready to serve with the ball, cleverly representing the ESPYS logo. The teaser quickly went viral on social media after Williams shared it.
Decided to take place today, the ESPYS Awards will be held inside Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre. Known to celebrate the best athletes in a year by ESPN and ABC network, Williams has been awarded 12 times by the organizers. Calling it her “dream come true” moment, Williams said, “I couldn’t be more excited to host The ESPYS, This is a dream come true for me, and something I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember.”

While Williams’ statement expressed her great enthusiasm for hosting the award show, she is all set to showcase one more interesting project in collaboration with ESPN.

This docuseries In the Arena: Serena Williams is said to be Williams’ life’s “most complete, intimate, and compelling account.”
