Emma Raducanu has seen massive ups and downs in her tennis career. Entering the tournament as a qualifier, she stunned one and all by winning the 2021 US Open. However, the British tennis star hasn’t been able to capitalize on her maiden Grand Slam title victory. She has had early exits from the tournaments since then, failing to win any title. Further, she has been seriously affected by injuries this year. Nonetheless, Raducanu has revealed her plans for the Olympics claiming the total number of editions she wants to be a part of!

The 20-year-old is currently out of action as she recovers from her injuries. However, will she eventually be allowed to participate in the Olympics considering the stringent policies?

Recently, the British tennis sensation was involved in an interview with BBC Sport. During the show, she opened up about various topics, from her coaching team to her future plans. Further, she also went on to talk about wanting to play in the Olympic Games. On this front, she said, “Obviously, the Olympics is such a big thing in sport. I think I could play another four if I really wanted to, so this one isn’t the immediate rush or pressure, it’s just about getting back on court.”

Further, Raducanu went on to add, “I love the Slams but I do want to have the Olympic experience. I’ll just see how it goes, if I even qualify and how it goes from there.” Raducanu hasn’t played for the majority of this season due to injuries. As a result, there were concerning reports regarding her participation in the upcoming Olympic Games.

Over the past few days, there have been reports circulating in the media that the British tennis star might not be able to make it to the Paris Olympic Games. She was a serious medal contender for her country and these reports will have a major effect on her chances.

Raducanu’s wrist and ankle injuries have kept her away from action since April this year. Further, with the rehabilitation process taking time, her comeback has been delayed. Stringent Olympic qualification rules require that a player should have played at least twice in the Billie Jean King Cup over the four-year cycle.

Raducanu has played just once and she risks missing the upcoming tournament later this year. However, she still has hopes left as one final opportunity will be available in April 2024 for her to participate in the Billie Jean King Cup. Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to see how she performs on her comeback.
