Emma Raducanu Bags ESPY Awards Leaving Behind Nominees Like Iga Swiatek and Ashleigh Barty

Acknowledging her rise, the player has bagged ESPY Award in the category of the best athlete in women’s tennis.

ESPN recently announced ESPY awards which are given to commend an individual athlete or player’s performance in the preceding year. Emma Raducanu bagged the award for her astounding performance last year when she bagged her first grand slam title at the US Open.

For this award, the incumbent world no. 1 Iga Swiatek and former world no. 1 Ashleigh Barty were also nominated. However, Raducanu’s rise to the top last year was astounding.

No one saw the British youngster coming, and she took the reign of everyone’s attention by winning the US Open. Moreover, Rafael Nadal won the ESPY Award in the men’s category in tennis.

How is Raducanu thriving at the moment?

Raducanu could not do well on her home turf at Wimbledon. The British player fared well in the first round, however, she could not do well in the second round and had to bid it farewell. Many people have scrutinized her stagnancy on the court and have criticized her for getting distracted by various endorsements.

However, she has trained hard and reached the two quarter-finals this year. But this has been her best this year. She is now gearing up to defend her title at the US Open.
