The emergence of the Williams sisters and their eventual rise to the top of the tennis world is iconic in more ways than one. The humongous success of Venus and Serena Williams on the tennis court stands as a symbol of excellence and resilience, as they broke barriers in a sport where diversity was lacking prior to their emergence. Having won 23 singles grand slam titles, Serena Williams is widely considered one of the greatest athletes to ever hold a tennis racket. Venus, on the other hand, became the first black player in tennis history to be ranked world number 1, paving the way for future generations.
They have inspired millions of aspiring tennis players, including Coco Gauff, who has time and again acknowledged the impact of the Williams sisters in her career. In a recent interview, reiterated her admiration for the duo.
