Is Elena Rybakina's serve the best we've seen since Serena Williams? What do you think?

Elena Rybakina is on Cloud 9 at the ongoing Wimbledon Championships. After a not-so-great start to the season, grass has again brought the best out of her as the 2022 champion is just two steps away from clinching her second title here. Additionally, she has dominated her opponents in this edition, giving them hardly any breathing space. As a result, it reminded fans about Iga Swiatek and Serena Williams.

While Swiatek has dominated women’s tennis in recent times, the American legend did the same during her playing days. Swiatek won the French Open title recently, and she did so while losing just a solitary set in the entire tournament. On the other hand, Rybakina’s service has been on fire, much to the likes of how Serena Williams used to serve at her peak. Statistically speaking, Rybakina has hit the most aces in women’s singles at 2024 Wimbledon, with 31 aces hit before her semifinal match against Barbora Krejcikova.

This led to massive comparisons to Serena Williams, who was a champion at hitting aces in her matches. Like Rybakina, Williams was also a largely successful player on grass, with 7 out of her 23 Grand Slam titles coming at Wimbledon. As a result, fans were quick to initiate comparisons of Rybakina with Williams and Swiatek.

Elena Rybakina’s pristine form leads to stunning reactions from fans

The Kazakh tennis star is currently playing her semifinal encounter against Barbora Krejcikova. In what is proving to be a see-saw battle, Rybakina won the opening set but her opponent came back strongly to level things up. Nonetheless, Rybakina’s strong serving continued in her semifinal and fans took to social media to draw comparisons of Rybakina with Williams. One fan, actor Sendhil Ramamurthy, made a massive admission about her, saying, “Elena has the best serve in women’s tennis since Serena .”

Not only her serve but also her return game has received massive applause, especially in this tournament. This led one fan to make an ultimate admission on Rybakina, saying, “Good job Rybakina my favorite player GOAT greatest player of all time Elena Rybakina.” The Kazakh star always brings the best out of her at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament. This was pointed out by a Twitter user, who called Wimbledon Rybakina’s ‘second home.’

Have an interesting take?

Earlier this year, we saw the best of Iga Swiatek on the clay courts. She won her fourth French Open title in a dominant fashion and Rybakina’s amazing performance on grass drew comparisons to Iga Swiatek. One fan commented, “Elena Rybakina is literally Iga on grass.” Out of her 5 Grand Slams, 4 are on clay and the World No. 1 has defended her Roland Garros crown three times in a row now. While Marketa Vondrousova took Wimbledon last year, Rybakina still made it to the QFs and might win again this year if she manages to break Jasmine Paolini in the final.

Lastly, Rybakina began her semifinal encounter in a dominant fashion, racing to a 4-0 lead. One of the fans was elated by this, saying, “Rybakina breaks again! Elena Rybakina all over the Czech, and in a flash it’s 4-0. And what’s scary? She’s not even playing her best.”

With the monumental occasion, the Kazakh will go all out in the final set of her semifinal encounter. She will be eager to add another Wimbledon title to her tally and will have to get over the challenges of Krejcikova and Jasmine Paolini to lift the trophy.
