The Australian Open 2021 is just one week away and players are quite excited about the Grand Slam. Some players, including World No.1 Ashleigh Barty, are returning on the court after a year off and fans are surely enthusiastic about it. Recently, Barty admitted that she is quite exhilarated about the upcoming Grand Slam.
Ashleigh Barty last played at the Qatar Open 2020 and hasn’t played a professional tennis match since. In a recent interview, she revealed that she has been eagerly waiting to play at the Australian Open 2021.
“I think it’s excitement more than anything. I feel excited, feel excited as I’ve ever been, as eager as I’ve ever been to get out here and play,” said Barty in the interview.

She also recalled instances of the Australian Open 2020 and claimed that it was a great tournament for her. Barty managed to reach the semis of the Grand Slam last time, but lost to Sofia Kenin there. She further said that she draws inspiration from those memories.
“Drawing on the memories from last Australian summer, they’re great memories. It was a hugely successful summer. So I think we just draw from those memories. We stick to our processes and enjoy it,” added the World No.1 player.

“Eager and driven and excited this year”- Ashleigh Barty
Barty recently played an exhibition match against Simona Halep in Adelaide. Even though she lost the match, she was able to win the hearts of her fans. In the same interview, Barty highlighted that she is feeling good as she is getting the opportunity to play again.

“This is a time of year that I love. Like I said, I’m so grateful that we have the opportunity to do it all again,” continued the Australian player.

Barty also emphasized that she was not just eager for the Major in Melbourne but for the entire season.
“So from our perspective, we come out here and do what we do. We do it with a smile on our face. But we’re certainly eager and driven and excited this year to get underway again,” concluded Barty.

It is quite evident that Barty is excited about the upcoming Grand Slam. Fans, too, have great expectations from her as she is starting as the top-seeded player. Will Barty be able to win her second Grand Slam title this year?
