Alexis Ohanian is known for much more than his business acumen—his resilience and drive have become just as legendary. Whether he’s championing women’s sports or going the extra mile to tackle personal challenges, Serena Williams’ husband never backs down from putting in the hard work. And now, he’s showing that same relentless spirit as he faces a health battle with Lyme disease.
The 41-year-old took to his X and shared a picture of himself standing in front of a mirror in a gym. He can be seen wearing a Black and blue outfit. In the post, Ohanian shared how he’s tackling this challenge head-on, with a resilience that’s inspiring fans all over. He highlighted the extra efforts he is putting in and the medication he is taking as he overcomes the difficulties posed by the disease.
Captioning the post, Ohanian wrote, “Dragged my a** in here before flying out. Eating clean the last year, pretty consistent taking my daily atorvastatin, and only drinking booze on special occasions.” He further wrote, “Lift Routine is the same tho. Just got another lipid panel back an LDL (bad cholesterol) has improved! It’s now 89.” Remember, it was in July this year when Ohanian revealed that he was diagnosed with Lyme disease, a condition transmitted to humans via infected tick bites.

Taking to X back then, Ohanian shared, “Doing a full battery of health scans, tests, etc, and found out I have lyme disease. Wild. No symptoms, thankfully, but gonna treat.” In yet another post, the Reddit co-founder shared that the diagnosis was surprising for him as well since he did not spend much time in the Northeast or in other regions where ticks are common. Ohanian also shared that his “good cholesterol is too low” and “bad cholesterol is just OK,” and confirmed that he “gotta work on” his health, and the latest pictures depict just that.
Interestingly, Ohanian was among the rare populations who developed the issue without a symptom. In around 70% to 80% of the cases, people infected with the disease tend to develop an erythema migrans rash — a “bull’s eye” rash that expands in size at the site of the bite on their body, per U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It can also cause fatigue, joint pains, and even fever. The disease has also impacted several other celebrities including Amy Schumer and Justin Bieber in the past.
Meanwhile, Serena Williams‘ husband’s latest post reveals that he is not shying away from doing some additional work. However, Serena Williams’ husband was not similarly determined about his physical fitness during his young age, as revealed by himself.

When Alexis Ohanian revealed how his daughters motivated him towards fitness
Alexis Ohanian might have become an inspiration for many entrepreneurs but his life was filled with uncertainties and unhealthy habits during his initial phase, as revealed by himself. In an interview with Entrepreneur he revealed that while he has changed his daily routine, it was marked by irregular practices during his 20s.
Speaking in the interview, he said that he was unbothered about what he ate or how often he exercised. It was only after becoming a father, that his worldview changed and he started to prioritize his health as well. “I was like, I need to change everything so that I can be around for as long as possible for this little one (Olympia),” Ohanian said in 2023. “And that’s been one of the superpowers, frankly, of becoming a dad.” The major reason he attributes to these changes is the perception he wanted to build about himself for his daughters.

“You actually don’t care about anything else in the world other than this kid’s perception of you. Another gear unlocks once you have that dose of humility, and it’s great. I think it’s made me so much better.” As Ohanian continues to overcome his woes, it would be interesting to see if he shares more updates about his progress.
