After a long absence from the tour, the American tennis player Venus Williams finally returned to the ASB Classic to play a competitive match. However, after the tournament, the 7-time singles Grand Slam champion picked up an injury and was forced to pull out of the Australian Open. Notably, questions about her fitness levels and speculations about her plans for her tennis career were talking points for many.
Now, her father, Richard Williams, has also addressed the same while revealing that he believes his daughter could retire from tennis “very soon”. ‘King’ Richard has further opened up about his daughter’s plans of starting a family of her own.

After almost two decades on the WTA tour, the 23-time singles Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams has already moved from the court. Now her sister Venus Williams might also be on the verge of putting down her racket after her incredible tennis journey. Williams sisters’ dad, Richard Williams has also hinted about the same during a recent interview with the U.S. Sun.
While talking about Venus’ plans of continuing playing on the court, Richard said, “I think she could be quitting [tennis] very soon.”
‘King’ Richard further said that her daughter will want to focus on other projects after moving from the tennis court. Later he was also asked if the 7-time singles Grand Slam champion has any plans of starting a family of her own. Richard answered by saying that he really don’t think so.
He added, “She really loves kids, but I don’t think she’ll have kids.”
A lot of speculation and questions about retirement were raised when Venus pulled out from this season’s Australian Open after picking up an injury. A slew of fans were excited to see the American tennis icon making a return to a Grand Slam event after she last played at the US Open. However, the entire tennis community was left disappointed after the news of her withdrawal from the event came out.
Prior to that, the 42-year-old made a return to the court with a huge win against her compatriot, Katie Volynets at the ASB Classic. However, she was later knocked out of the event after a thriller match against the Chinese tennis player, Zhu Lin.
