Coco Gauff has been one of the most promising prospects currently on the women’s circuit. Moreover, she has defied age to achieve success early in her career. Gauff had a decent start to this season, finishing as a quarterfinalist at the WTA 1000 Qatar TotalEnergies Open. Further, she is active on the doubles circuit too, winning the title in Doha with Jessica Pegula.

Coco Gauff is in Indian Wells to participate in the BNP Paribas Open. However, she has bowed out in women’s singles, losing to the former World Number 1, Simona Halep 3-6, 4-6 in the Round of 32 clash. Gauff is also playing in the women’s doubles and has reached the quarterfinals with her partner, Catherine McNally. Recently, Gauff opened about receiving a car as a birthday gift.
Coco Gauff doesn’t like to drive
The American turned 18 on March 13. Her father gifted her a car as a birthday present. Further, she expressed her feelings about receiving this gift from her father. She said, “Yeah, I mean, he’s kind of, I feel like, more of a present for himself (her father). I don’t like driving at all, to be honest. So, he’s like, you need to get a car, because, like, 16, he wanted to get me one, I was like, I don’t want one and 17 you know, he wanted to get me one and he’s like, I’m tired of driving you everywhere, so, here’s your car.”
Moreover, she added, “So, yeah, it’s more of a present for him and then also, like my brother, he’s gonna be 15 this year, and he’s going to get a permit and like I’m gone, so whose car he’s going to drive? Mine. So, I don’t know if it’s really a present for me or not.”

Coco Gauff’s tennis career
The American is enjoying a steady rise to be amongst the elite players on the women’s tour. She caught eyeballs when she won the 2018 French Open girls’ singles title. In the same year, she tasted success in girls’ doubles, winning the US Open title with Catherine Mcnally. Further, she has won a couple of WTA singles titles and four WTA doubles titles so far on the tour.
Gauff is one of the few players who are at the top of their game in singles as well as in doubles. She is ranked 17th in singles and 10th in doubles on the WTA ranking chart.

Earlier today, Coco Gauff and Catherine Mcnally defeated Maria Sakkari and Ajla Tomljanovic 6-4, 6-1 in the pre-quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open. The American pairing is seeded third in the tournament and is the local favorite to lift the title in Indian Wells.
