Is Serena Williams' legacy more about her tennis achievements or her advocacy for kindness and equality?

Serena Williams has a motto in life: kindness. No matter how famous she is, Williams believes the only human quality that truly deserves applause is treating others with positivity. A devoted advocate for female athletes’ equality, Williams consistently shares words of wisdom, reinforcing why she is the GOAT of her sport.

Williams had an inspirational message for her followers on social media. The former Olympic gold-medalist and founder of WYN Beauty has been an icon of empowerment in the sport. Despite her retirement two years ago, Williams has remained actively involved in the fight for equality, particularly for female athletes. She co-owns Angel City FC, a female-led soccer club, and has inspired her husband, Alexis Ohanian, to fight for the economic rights of female track and field athletes. Williams faced much criticism during her professional career, often being compared to bulls because the world didn’t find any traditionally feminine charm in her figure. However, those negative words could hardly affect the Queen of Tennis.

A fan page shared a video, where Williams offered a great insight to her fans while decking up with her WYN beauty products. “Don’t be afraid to let your kindness shine because a lot of people say you know you let your light shine and don’t let anyone dim your light. Well don’t let anyone dim the kind person that you are. Cause we live in a world right now where people need kind dees. And even if it;s opening the door for someone or even if it’s just like you know changing something or I don’t know helping with a I don’t know bachelorette party. Like I just said wherever it is just always be authentically who you are and I think that obviously that will read well and then maybe you will have just like a super incredible emotional reaction like I kind of had today,” said the legend. Williams’ words emphasized why people shouldn’t compromise their originality for the sake of others.

Serena Williams wants Olympia “to always think positive about other people”

The Grand Slam winner didn’t keep these words of wisdom to herself but shared them with her elder daughter, Olympia. Kindness is something the Williams-Ohanian family preaches wholeheartedly. “And then it’s not only that, it’s how I also talk to my daughter. I always tell her, ‘Say something nice. Is there something nice you can think of about this girl?”

Williams also mentioned the reason behind such upbringing. “Because I just want her to always think positive about other people as well. Because that cattiness and that mental health is really not healthy. So I think it just starts at such a young age of just encouraging positive views and positive feedback and positive words that are coming out of your mouth.,” she concluded.
