Former Czech-American tennis player Martina Navratilova has often expressed her political views. Recently, she took a dig at Donald Trump’s supporters, regarding Americans watching the NFL after the Colin Kaepernick controversy back in 2017.

Notably, Kaepernick had to face staunch criticism for kneeling during the national anthem back then. Particularly, the former President of the United States slammed him for kneeling. As a result of the criticism, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback failed to find a team after that incident.
Martina Navratilova takes a dig at Donald Trump’s supporters
Recently, former NBA player Rex Chapman commented on the viewing of the NBA and NFL now compared to the Trump era. He wrote, “I just don’t get how the MAGA/America First people have any opinion whatsoever on the NFL or NBA. Trump told them the players were “sons of bitches” and should be “fired” several years ago. They stopped watching. They all said. Now Joe Biden is president and they’re watching?“

Notably, in 2017, when Trump was the President of America, he commented on Kaepernick’s kneeling incident and all the other protestors who joined the NFL player in the protest. Trump said, “Get that son of a bi*** off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’”
Currently, the NFL quarterback is a free agent and without a team. Speaking about Kaepernick’s situation, Trump changed his stance in 2020 and talked about him getting an opportunity once again in the NFL.
Meanwhile, this was not the first occasion Navratilova had criticized Trump or his supporters. In the past, we have seen her celebrating Trump’s loss in the presidential election and she took digs at his supporters as well.
Navratilova’s emotional message to Roger Federer
Apart from sharing her political views, Navratilova often talks about tennis as well. Recently, she covered the US Open from the commentary box and presented the trophy as well after the women’s final.

Meanwhile, she recently took to Twitter and shared a lovely message for Roger Federer, who announced his retirement from professional tennis yesterday. She called Federer “full of love, life, hope, passion and gratitude” and thanked him for creating magic on the tennis court.
