Jessica Pegula is no stranger to juggling multiple roles. The American is a top-ranked tennis player, a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan, and an expert at serving up witty one-liners on social media. But off the court, there’s another title she takes just as seriously—dog mom. And being a dog mom? Well, that’s a full-time job in itself. But what happens when your actual full-time job requires you to travel across the globe, hopping from tournament to tournament? For Pegula, that’s where careful planning—and a little help from her loved ones comes in.

Jessica Pegula and her husband, Taylor Gahagen, are proud parents to two adorable dogs: a chocolate Labrador named Tucker and an Australian Shepherd named Maddie. But with a packed tennis schedule, she can’t always be there to feed them treats and scratch their ears. So how does the World No. 5 handle being away? Well, the American tennis star recently shared her approach in an interview with Sports Illustrated while promoting her new partnership with Maev, a pet nutrition brand.

The 30-year-old tennis player revealed, “I try to do the best I can as far as making sure they stay with other people they know so they don’t have too much anxiety when being separated. Luckily I have a lot of family and friends around that they are familiar with. Once they realize who is feeding them Maev they adjust pretty quickly! Haha.”

Pegula’s love for dogs goes way beyond just having pets. Her partnership with Maev isn’t just about business—it’s deeply personal.

Her commitment to her dogs’ well-being led her to explore raw food diets. But with her hectic schedule, making homemade raw meals became too time-consuming. That’s when she found Maev. “Years ago, I even started making my own raw food because I knew it was better for them, but it was time-consuming, and I couldn’t keep up with it. After losing a dog, it became even more clear to me—why would I cut corners on something so important to their overall health and longevity? I spent a lot of time researching different options and found Maev. It’s unlike any other pet food on the market. It’s raw, and it’s the only human-grade option in the raw space.”
