Every sport has a young talent who shows great promise but can’t perform consistently. Tennis has had many players who turned the world upside down when they stepped up to the big league, but fizzled out as time passes. Currently, Coco Gauff is on the same track, according to a respected name in the realm of tennis. The American player became popular when she defeated Venus Williams as a 15-year-old at the Wimbledon Championships. From then on, Gauff showed great promise but has struggled to reach the level her fans and well-wishers expected her to. Among those people is Maciej Synówka, a Polish coach and commentator.

Along with Gauff, according to the Polish coach, Emma Raducanu, Bianca Andreescu, Amanda Anisimova, and Sofia Kenin are also players who aren’t performing up to their expected level.

As she continues to struggle with her form, Gauff is falling fast on the fan favorite list. As the young American sensation fails to reach the latter stages of big tournaments this year, she risks falling further in the WTA rankings. Gauff’s best record in her current season has been the semifinal at the Dubai Open. Her lack of titles in her career is one reason some have started doubting her talents. One such person is Maciej Synówka, coach and commentator.

As per Synówka, she has not played to her talent. For him, the amount of attention Gauff received after her win against Venus Williams is the reason she is not performing up to par.

Gauff certainly doesn’t play to the extent of her talent this season. In my opinion, it hurt her that she was quickly created as the future number one in the world.

Other players who wasted their potential, according to the coach

Along with Gauff, Synówka also named a few other players he thought had not performed up to the mark. As per him, Raducanu, Andreescu, Kenin, and Anisimova were also wasting their talent. “Other fairly obvious names in this context include Americans Sofia Kenin and Amanda Anisimova, Canadian Bianca Andreescu and Briton Emma Raducanu.”

Emma Raducanu is in the same boat as Gauff, as she has struggled quite a bit since she won her first slam in 2021. And fans of Raducanu have already stated their worries over her fall many times. Both the young WTA stars have had difficulties keeping up their form. Will their performance in the rest of the season be any better? Only time will tell.
