Martina Navratilova hits out at a fan on Twitter
Navratilova is an active user of social media, keeping her fans updated from time to time. Replying to a graphic by Sportskeeda Tennis, the 18-time Grand Slam winner said, “And Billie Jean has 6- you would think they would get these pretty basic numbers down correctly.”

This was after she hit back at a fan who wrote that legend Billie-Jean King was a 6-time Wimbledon champion, but not in the Open Era. “So this guy posts tennis stuff and doesn?t let me answer? Ok then.” Former rival Chris Evert also replied to the discrepancy in the graphic. It stated that Evert had only won at the All-England Club on two occasions. “Well, my memory might not be laser sharp, but I think I won 3; pls don?t take one away from me!!!,” she said.

Evert is a 3-time Wimbledon champion winning in 1974, 1976 and 1981. Navratilova and Evert are on par in the Grand Slam tally, winning 18 titles each.

Navratilova and Wimbledon’s history
After winning 9 titles at SW19, Navratilova has proven to be the greatest player of all-time on the surface. Her wins came in 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1990. She totally amassed 167 singles and 177 doubles titles before announcing her retirement in 2006.

She is also the oldest player to win a Wimbledon match at the age of 47 in 2004. Her longevity in tennis made her a considerable candidate for the GOAT of women’s tennis. The former World No.1? started playing the tournament for the first time in 1973, winning the doubles event with Evert three years later. She is undoubtedly one of the best players to ever play the sport.
