Coco Gauff ended her journey at the Australian Open today in the semifinals of the tournament at Rod Laver Arena against Aryna Sabalenka. This is the third time Gauff has lost against Sabalenka. After her defeat at the match, she was asked in an interview about how much and if she gets bothered by how loud Aryna Sabalenka can be during the match.
If it was any other player, they would perhaps admit that the grunts unsettled them. But even with her AO dream over, Coco Gauff isn’t too resentful of the player who ended it.

To which she responded, “No, I don’t think so. I don’t notice. It doesn’t bother me because it’s consistent. If she did it extended on certain balls, then I would be like, okay, it’s ridiculous. No, I think that’s just her. It’s fine. There have been other grunters in the past. It doesn’t bother me.”
She further also stated that she has played players in the past who grunt intentionally at points where they don’t want to lose, and that is not ethical. But if the grunt is consistent, then it’s not a problem for her, which is true in the case of Sabalenka.
Even though Gauff did not mind Sabalenka’s grunting, there have been other players who have had an issue with it.
