Coach Riba shared, “Yes, of course. I’m learning every day from Qinwen. Yeah, you learn a lot from the players. I wish that she’s learning something from me also.” This mutual learning experience makes their relationship adorable, as Coach Riba finds himself experiencing the beauty of Chinese culture.
“I have many Chinese friends. I love the people. Yeah, every day that passes I’m more involved with the Chinese culture. You know, I’m trying to start to talk a bit. Sometimes Qinwen is teaching me some Chinese. It’s complicated to talk, but I’m trying (smiling). But yes, I’m feeling really good,” he confesses. As the tennis pro talked about his off-court lingual courses with Zheng, it is sure that he has been sharing a good bond with the young WTA star.
The bond that Zheng shares with her coach is amazing, however, the real test will commence in a few minutes. As Qinwen Zheng will take on the defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in the finals Down Under, it will be interesting to see how the Chinese player performs in her first Grand Slam final.
