In 2021, Emma Raducanu shocked the world. She became the first, and as of now, the only player to win a grand slam after playing in the qualifying rounds in the Open Era. However, her performance following the victory has been subpar. She has failed to recreate the results and couldn’t manage to win any tournaments following her slam win. Her form became worse in 2023.

After many losses, Raducanu had to sit out the entire year due to injury. She returned this year and said that she is playing with a different mindset as US Open glory actually became detrimental to her.

For me, the goal and the priority this year is, of course, to finish the year healthy and also to not just chase tournaments and chase points. Because I feel like, in comparison to other players on Tour, I’m very undercooked.

She further explained, “I went to school, and then I all of a sudden won the US Open, and I just hop from tournament to tournament. So I don’t think I necessarily have all the base for fundamentals locked down, and when I do, then I’m looking forward to hopefully capsizing more tournaments.”
