Announcing her withdrawal, Halep also gave a slight update on her condition. She asserted that the MRI shows a tear at the spot of the injury. However, recently, the Doctors treating Halep gave their opinions on the injury and the current situation of the leg. The team of doctors working to make Halep get back on the tour at the earliest also asserted the estimated time of return for Halep.
What did doctors say?
Simona Halep suffered a left thigh injury during the second set of her semifinal match at Indian Wells. The injury forced her to take a medical timeout at 1-2 in the second set. Examining her condition, the physio taped Halep’s thigh, giving her the leverage to finish the match. After experiencing pain in the same leg in Miami, Simona opted to see a doctor and get examined.
Post her examination at Baptist Health, doctors having expertise in 3D musculoskeletal imaging have claimed that Halep has suffered another injury, just adjacent to the one suffered at Indian Wells.

As told by Halep in her withdrawal announcement tweet, the treatment has also speculated a minimum resting period of three weeks. As per the head doctor of the Miami Open, Halep, at the earliest can play in Madrid. However, it is not as smooth as it looks. Halep’s return to Madrid will largely be dependent on her body. As per the doctor, Halep can only return to Madrid if her body responds positively to the medication and the recovery methods being used.
Even though the 2-time semifinalist has withdrawn from the Miami Open, she hasn’t left the city yet. Instead, she will be there for another few days for further investigations.
