World No.1 Ashleigh Barty recently emerged as the winner of the Cincinnati Open 2021. The Australian player defeated Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann in straight sets to win the title. The final scoreline of the match was 6-3, 6-1.

Ashleigh Barty was dominant throughout the match and never gave any chance to her opponent to fight back. Interestingly, it is her fifth trophy of the season and second Masters title in 2021.

In an exclusive interview with Tennis Channel, Barty faced a really intriguing question. She was asked since she is now the World No.1 player for about ninety weeks, if she thinks about the stats and results or is more sort of process oriented.

“Very process, very process,” began Barty. “I find that distraction comes with the result and thinking of the what ifs. I know that I enjoy my tennis the most when I am having fun and I am loving what I am doing to get there.”

Barty clearly mentioned that she doesn’t think about the results when she steps on the court. She believes that she gets distracted after thing about stats and numbers and just focuses on her current match.

“Probably, the thing that I like most about the tennis is the thrill of the fight beforehand… That’s what I love the most. I think the wins, the accolades come with it or are a bonus. Those aren’t the things that make me fill fulfilled,” added the World No.1 player.
