World No.2 Simona Halep earned herself a ticket to the quarters of the Australian Open 2021. Facing French Open 2020 winner Iga Swiatek in the fourth round, she made a spectacular comeback and won the match despite losing the first set. The final scoreline of the match was 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

With her win, Simona Halep also took revenge on Iga Swiatek. The 19-year-old Polish player defeated Halep in straight sets in the fourth round of the French Open 2020. However, Halep didn’t let Swiatek take control this time and played like a true warrior.

In the post-match interview, Swiatek revealed that she has a lot of respect for Halep. She believes that the Romanian player has too many options and a wide range of shots to chose from.

“I have a lot of respect because it seems she has a lot of options. When something is not right for her she just changes the tactics and that’s great,” said Swiatek in the interview.

Swiatek highlighted that Halep was easily able to change tactics if something wasn’t working right for her. She admits that it was that quality that she was missing.

Swiatek admitted that she didn’t have many options during the match. She emphasized that this was what the game came down to in the end.

“That’s the difference b/w the champions and less-experienced players, b/c I didn’t feel like I had many options,” added Swiatek.
