After making a comeback earlier this season, Emma Raducanu hasn’t had the best of times on the court. The British star has endured a difficult season and is set to return empty-handed after failing to win any title in 2024. After an injury-laden 2023 season, much was expected from her this year. However, it looks like the same problems have been affecting her as she suffered another injury setback during the Asian swing. With Raducanu readying for a return now, she reflected on the horrifying times amid a lengthy injury layoff.
The former US Open champion will be seen in action at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals. Ahead of the tournament, she was asked about her return to fitness while representing her country in the Billie Jean King Cup in Malaga.
Raducanu mentioned, “Yeah, it was. I think when I got injured in Korea, I didn’t know how bad it was initially. I actually did it in my second round there and managed to finish the match. But I ended up not playing for about four, five weeks after that. Yeah, I think the last three weeks have been a gradual buildup and return to play. I have done some really good work. I’m feeling good about my game in a place that I can try and compete and give everything on the match court, but it is quite different.”

Raducanu suffered from a ligament injury in her foot which kept her away from the action since. However, she is finally up and running and rearing to go at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.

Raducanu said, “I think something about the team competition is that, even when you’re down – like, I was a set down in both matches – you keep fighting. It’s not that you wouldn’t necessarily want to in a normal tournament, but it’s just that extra motivation to fight right until the end. It’s surprising how certain matches can turn. I was a set and a break down and all of a sudden came back and won in three [sets], it was a crucial tie to win. I think you give that something extra even if the scoreboard is against you. I think we really back ourselves here.”
